Main Headline: Protecting Louisiana’s wood ducks and wetlands, one nest box at a time.

Mission Statement: Southern Quacker Wildlife Conservation is a Louisiana-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rebuilding wood duck populations and protecting the wetland habitats they depend on. We do this by designing, installing, and monitoring high-quality nest boxes across private lands and the Pearl River Wildlife Management Area.

Why It Matters: Wood ducks once faced serious decline due to habitat loss and the shortage of natural nesting cavities. Today, well-placed nest boxes give these birds a safe place to raise their young and help restore healthy populations across Louisiana’s forests and wetlands.

What We Do:

  • Build and install durable nest boxes designed specifically for wood ducks

  • Monitor boxes and track nesting success

  • Partner with landowners, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and local organizations

  • Educate the public about wetland conservation and the role of nest boxes

  • Work toward a long-term goal of 500 nest boxes by 2035

Our Approach: We are a volunteer-driven organization focused on practical, on-the-ground results. Every box we install is a direct investment in Louisiana’s wood ducks and the wetlands that support them. Your support makes this work possible.
